Saving a family piece. Repair Marpo calibre AS:1130

P1070039 A client has sent a watch that belonged to his father-in-law. Economically it makes no sense to repair, but sentimentally it’s worth more than a Rolex. It’s not running as the balance staff is broken and the case has been mangled.
P1070040

The chrome plated case has been pretty damaged. I will send it to Replateit and see what they can do!

The dial is patinated, but we will leave that as it is.

Here I have removed the dial and hands and you can see the setting/winding mechanism.

The old mainspring.

P1090234

I have cleaned the movement. I have fitted a new balance as it’s cheaper than replacing the balance staff;) Got to love AS parts prices!

New mainspring.

Here you can see the gear train going back in place.

I like the sharp bridge designs on this 1130.

Replateit did a great job on the case!

You and watchguy promoted replateit more then anyone else, and what a good job they are doing. It’s nice that the customer sees some actual improvement, besides the timekeeping.
    Again, great job!
