The Ultra-Chro generation movements are Longines entry to the high beat race of the late 1960’s. This costumer watch is in good condition and needs a routine service.
This watch is actually keeping decent time, but the amplitude is low and the jewels dry.
Very nice looking movement
The osculating weight has washer underneath which is important not to forget.
The date mechanism is very snappy when changing date.
Here you can see more of the date mechanism.
Winding/setting mechanism.
Here you can see the workings of the auto-winder bridge. The brown wheel is the reverse wheel and it needed changing.
The gear train coming out. High beats are much more sensitive to dirt than low beat movements.
Hmmm is the barrel trying to tell me something?
I don’t like opening these riveted barrels, but in an automatic watch I have to clean the mainspring and put new grease on the barrel walls, or it will not slide properly and can cause the watch to bank.
Everything cleaned and ready to be put back together.
