Movement looks nice! Serial no 132!!!
I remove the hands and dial.
Once out of the case the movement starts ticking, but the balance is very wonky and needs closer inspection.
Hmm that looks a little crooked…
Whaaaat!!! The upper and lower balance staff pivots have literally been glued in place to repair a broken staff. I applaud the attempt, but they did not do a good job… I think replacing the staff will be the way to go.
I start taking the movement apart.
Down to the base movement.
Down to the gear train layout.
The lower balance jewel is broken and will be replaced.
The upper cap jewel is also cracked and will be replaced.
Here I’m riveting a new balance staff in place. Correct balance staff is Ronda 2789
I fit the roller to the balance.
Balance is placed back into the movement for cleaning.
Movement cleaned and ready to be put back together.
The balance is no longer wonky and swinging freely.
Fit a new mainspring.
Base movement back together and ticking.
Watch is preforming like a dream!
I start putting the chronograph layer together. The stem and crown are borrowed from one of my own projects.
Setting/winding mechanism back together.
Movement goes back into the case.
