In 1966 calibre ST5 was developed by Tianjin wath factory (天津手表厂) this factory is now known as the Tianjin Sea-gull watch factory (天津海鸥手表集团公司). The calibre ST5 is the first truly Chinese developed and manufactured watch movement. Several variant have been made including an automatic version (I have yet to work review the autowinder)
Surface finish of the earlier variations are of a basic nature, while the later variant have a rather unique deep cut curving starburst pattern known as Sea-full stripes.
