Service Eterna Matic calibre 1253UD

IMG_5570

This Eterna is not working and very dirty, but looks to be in decent original condition.

IMG_5572

Lovely movement decoration.

IMG_6187

Dial and hands removed.

IMG_6188

Winding/setting mechanism with setting lever spring removed.

IMG_6189

The first generation Eterna Matic movements can easily be recognised by the two different sized reverser wheel.

IMG_6190

If you remember the super complicated Helvetia this autowinder is much more simple consisting of two intermediate wheels and two reverser wheels.

IMG_6191

Plenty of dirt! I also find a case clamp screw lodge in the gear train.

IMG_6192

The balance staff has been reduced to dust and needs replacing.

IMG_6194

This watch has been dirty for a long time!

IMG_6195

Dirty mainspring.

IMG_6197

Movement after a badly needed clean and ready to be put back together.

IMG_6199

New balance staff fitted to the balance and being tested that it swings freely.

IMG_6198

Mainspring in the clean barrel.

IMG_6200

Here you can see the gear train layout before fitting the train bridge.

IMG_6201

Almost back together, clean and nice!

IMG_6202

Setting/winding mechanism, the finish and decoration are very good all over this movement.

IMG_6205

Aesthetically, Eterna has some of the most beautiful automatic movements.

IMG_6204

Back from it’s long sleep and preforming well.

IMG_6206

Dial and hands back on the movement. Some light patina, but overall very good condition!

IMG_6269

Movement back in the case looking great!

IMG_6271

I love the simple design of this watch, it tells you the time with no fuss!

IMG_6274

Yep happy with that!

Another success! Beautiful watch? Mitka, what approximate year would the watch be?
