Service: Certina Ds-2 Chronolympic. Calibre Valjoux 232

This Chronolympic is overdue a service and stops when the chronograph is engaged. Interesting to finally do a DS protected chronograph!

The case is very dirty and the movement cushion ring crumbles on removal. The paint on the hands are also peeling.

The movement is cleaned and I fit the shock jewels to see that the balance moves freely. I also fit a new mainspring.

The movement comes together. Adjusting the clearance of the chronograph intermediate wheel and second recorder, sorted the issue with the watch stopping when chronograph function was engaged. The minute recorder spring tension also needed some adjusting. I paint the hands and apply some new compound.

I source a NOS rubber case cushion and fit the movement back into the case.

A new diver crystal really makes the watch look great! The one thing I do not like with the DS watches is fitting the movement after a service as they sit tight and you always find a fibre on the dial that requires taking the movement out again to remove;)
