A client has sent me a rather nice Rolex Explorer case ref: 114270 for a full watch service. It has the rather nice to work on calibre 3130. Parts are not available, but some aftermarket parts avalible making this less scary to work on than the Omega Coaxial in the previous post. The client has also requested a case refinish. I have usually sent this work away, but after getting my new polishing machine I have been getting into refinishing my own cases. The client was quite happy to have me polish it in order to reduce the risk of it getting lost in transit. When I refinish a case, It’s very important to burnish the surface rather than cut away material. Ideally a micro welder is on the wish list for the future, where you can actually restore missing or dinged edges.
