Repair Longines calibre 10L

A customer has sent in this lovely Longines calibre 10L from the 1940’s. The balance staff is broken and the watch is not running.

Both upper and lower balance staff is broken! I find a staff still in it’s original package.

Someone has also scraped a shoulder in the barrel so they could fit a normal mainspring as they probably could not find a T end that would fit…

I remove the old staff in a platax tool and then rivet the new one in place using the staking set. I add a dial washer and poise the balance. The upper hole jewel was broken so I also replaced that.

Movement is cleaned and ready to be put back together.

I fit an original mainspring from Longines and put the watch together.
